- pain estimated to be 4x worse than labour
- blood ruining all your favourite clothes, if you fell or something, you’d be told it was cool and a badge of honour, but this blood you have to be embarrassed about.

Am I uncommon to have such a easy period? …3-4 days of bleeding, hungry and bloating. That’s it. Like all of these girls talk about how horrifying their periods are and I’m like ?????
Hahahah ya wat.. pain worse than labor????? Have u been in labor tho? Did u get gas, morphine or a epidural for the “pain” tho ?? Lol I do not understand.
definitely not worse than labor -____-
Uhhhhhh pain 4x worse than labour? No.
Period cramps = uterus contracting to push our blood, fluid and lining.
Labour pain = uterus contracting to push out a bone the size of a melon, an entire 5-10lb body plus blood, fluid and placenta.
When you’re on your period you take tylenol for the pain. Very rarely is period so bad that girls are hospitalized. RARELY. And if you are hospitalized for period cramps it’s usually because of some underlying medical issue. Once your period is over, you are fine and going about your daily business.
When women are in labour they are getting needles IN THEIR SPINE THAT SOMETIMES DOES NOT EVEN WORK. It’s not uncommon to have your vagina tear open. It can takes up to 6 weeks or more to fully recover. After I gave birth I couldn’t even walk I had to get my boyfriend to basically carry me to the bathroom because my body was so weak.
Do not even fucking say periods are worse than labour. I don’t even know where this information comes from and I swear who ever believes it is seriously fucked up and in for a BIG suprise if they ever have kids. Every person with a uterus goes through periods and every person who’s given labour has said it’s the worse pain imaginable. I have never met one single person who says their period is worse than giving birth.
Yeah seriously ummmm ok yes periods can suck (I had them bad enough to be hospitalized once) but you can explain how bad they are without pulling made up crap out of your ass, worse than labor okay uh what how stupid do you think people on tumblr are? (Apparently stupid enough that this had 117k notes)
cramps = cervix dilating to release a microscopic egg + uterine lining/blood. it’s literally probably 1/100th or less the dilation of childbirth. I don’t know who I worry about more, the poster or all the thousands of people who are gullible enough to believe it
I have endometriosis, have dealt with excruciating periods since I was 12 years old…and the idea of it hurting worse than labor makes me laugh my ass off.
Um, no. Absolutely not. Not even comparable.
One time a sympathetic nurse in the hospital told me that at least I’d get one good thing out of the experience of horrific, nightmarish cramps: I’d be prepared for pain management in labour. At the time I thought that she was just being kind and validating my feelings, but tbh she was spot on. The skills I learned for pain management during period cramps were incredibly useful for managing labour pain, as the sensation of terrible period cramps is near identical to labour up to transition.
I’ve had four natural labours up to 10cm dilated, all of which were posterior babies. One ended in a cesarean at full dilation, the others I gave birth naturally. Babies naturally born ranged in size from 6lb 14oz to nearly 10lbs, and labours ranged in length from 2 to 44 hours. My last labour (the shortest) was by far the most painful as it was done with active disability that included spinal fusions.
My worst period cramps were honestly worse than early labour, and worse than mid labour, but NOT worse than transitional labour. But let me break this down and explain: the pain levels alone are probably exactly the same, but the psychological experiences of cramps vs. labour is enough to push cramps Psychologically, period cramps are absolutely worse than labour and that in itself makes the pain feel and seem far worse and far more memorable. Period cramps are absolutely endless, and there’s no fucking point to them.
In labour you have contractions that rise and fall, have a peak, and mellow out for a few minutes.
Period cramps are non-stop constant pain.
In labour you are working toward the amazing goal of birth, and your hormonal rush afterward fills you with an incredible cocktail of hormones that make you literally feel like you’re high and in the middle of the best part of falling in love.
On your period you have no body process to save you.
As a youth, my period pain was so bad I passed out, threw up, and was taken to hospital more than once for shots of pain relief (I’m assuming it was pethidine or toradol).
In labour, the goal of birth and having a strong circle of emotional/moral support was more enough to keep me focused and pushing through without needing medicinal pain relief.
In conclusion, no there’s no way period pain is ever “4x stronger than labour”. But I will absolutely agree that bad period pain can be exactly like early-to-mid labour, up to transition, and maybe even through pushing. Just not transition: that shit is crazy.
